Yes, snug against clean pins.

Is this a new HD? If so use the tech support which comes with it to RMA or get it installed correctly.

If it won't show in BIOS even after reinstalling then it likely won't be seen by WD Data Lifeguard repair CD or Disk Check, but you can try as these sometimes can recover a failing HD.

I'm pretty sure the pins are clean since I get a message that the harddrive can be read but need installation media from elsewhere from within setup.

And no this is just a harddrive that I bought from a recommendation from someone since my old harddrive broke.

The driver is the SATA controller driver from your mobo chipset. It is almost certainly in the Win7 DVD, but if you want you can download it anyway, unzip to flash or CD and insert it at the Load Drivers link on the "Where do you want to install Windows" screen.

But if the drive isn't showing in BIOS, you'll need to get it to show up there first. I would get help from the Support page for that model HD on WD site.
