Clone existing 128Gb SSD to new 256Gb SSD-How hard can it be??

Simple query from me!

I've got a Lenovo T410s with a 128 gig SSD & I want to create an image to then put straight on a new 256 gig SSD.

I've tried Macrium Reflect (paid for version), but when I then put the drive in, it doesn't boot.

Macrium only lets you select 1 partition at a time, so I tried going through it selecting the system drive, then the O/S drive (C), then the D Drive (data) and then the Lenovo recovery partition, but still when I remove the 128 and boot from the the 256-no joy.

Help please!

Where are you trying to put the temp image? in order to clone you need to store the IMG file on an external drive or connect both the source drive and the dest. drive to the same machine.
Is it possiable you try cloneing on a machine that you can connect both of SSDs togther (like a desktop)?

I had Macrium installed on the 128 and the 256 in an Ultrabay.

I booted into Macrium recovery on the 128 and ran the "Restore Image" option, telling it to put the image on the 256.

Once it finished, I took the original 128 out, put the 256 in, but I just got a flashing cursor.

Did it allow you to select to copy the MBR or Zero track? If not or you didn't, then you'll likely need to write the System MBR to your 100mb System Reserved partition (if you have it) or Win7 partition itself.

Boot the Win7 DVD or REpair CD with only the target HD plugged, accept any offered Repair. If it doesn't offer Repair click through to Recovery Options list to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots.

If this fails, use the link in the tutorial to make sure 100mb Sys Reserved partition or if you don't have it the Win7 partition itself is marked Active then run Repairs again.

Cloning is direct between the two drives, not involving a stored image. If you have that option you might try it instead. If not, I would try burning a Macrium Disk to apply the image from.
