I really Don't think you need to worry about the SATA/RAID drivers during the install.

Win7 finds about 98% of needed drivers during install if you are connected to the internet during install.

Morning,

Memtest update 12 pass zero errors.

500GB HD install with new found drivers - FAIL with windows is unable to install to the selected location. Error 0x80300001

Just a normal install to 500GB HD instantly yields Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selection of installation Error 0X80070057

With Sata controller [IDE] selected the bios nor the installer will see the HD.

I switched in the 1TB drive with 300GB partition and the install was progressing from copying OS to expanding OS when it failed with "Windows cannot install the required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code:0x8007045D

Yes I have the a new cable that came from the 500GB box. Swap it out with the DVD or the HD?

If HD shows up during install you do not need SATA drivers inserted.

Reset CMOS. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixthe.../clearcmos.htm

Set SATA controller to AHCI mode.

Pre-partition using DISKPART or Partition Wizard bootable CD to NTFS Primary 100gb, marked Active.

If install fails, run diagnostics/repair Extended CD scan linked earlier on HD to check it's condition. You said you have this software - has it been run yet?

Next change SATA ports.

Report back on each step.

Do you have any other computer with Win7 on it, from which you can save an image to try applying to HD? Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup
