Cant reinstall from USB anymore??

Hi all ,just wondering if the reason i cant reinstall my W7 64bit HP from my USB is because i had deleted the 100mb partition??
Which contains boot files and other needed files(i think)

i tried three attempts but all failed
finally i did a clean install from the dvd and it worked

The fail said
Failure to find system partition???

And if so ,why didnt a clean install make another 100mb partition when i reinstalled it??

thanks

I just recently did a clean install of Home Premium x64. I deleted the 100 mb hidden partition and my windows 7 system partition C, while leaving my second data partition D alone. Windows 7 rebuilt the 100 mb hidden partition all on its own along with the primary C partition. I initially told it to use all of the unallocated space and it prompted me that it might have to create the 100 mb hidden system partition, and it did create it. My disk structure is exactly the way it was before I started.

EDIT: I did the above install from a USB thumb drive and deleted the above mentioned partitions during the install process. I've also done USB thumb drive installs to a new empty hard drive without problems. I've done it partitioning the drive, and just leaving it whole, and the 100 mb hidden partition was created each time. I don't know what happened in your case, something must have glitched during your install.

Perhaps you could tell us exactly what you did since it is not clear at all from your post.

If you remove the 100mb SysReserved partition it requires marking Win7 partition active then running Startup Repair from DVD Repair console in order to write the System boot files to Win7 and start it.

Trying to reinstall from USB (flash stick, HD, external DVD drive?) would have nothing to do with doing or failing to do any of that, as long as you are booting the installer. Have you used this USB installer successfully before?

When you booted your DVD to reinstall, you must have chosen the old Win7 partition to reinstall to without deleting the partitioning extant, which is why it didn't assign 100mb this time - you were pre-partitioned.

The benefit of having the 100mb SysReserved partition is having the Repair console conveniently placed on the F8 Advanced Boot Tools menu so you don't have to have the DVD or Repair CD for repairs or reimaging.

Yes, installed from usb on 3 occasions but i think theres something on the 100mb partition
and thanks ,i didnt know the repair console was on that partition, saves me messing with disks and usb's

so i should delete the hidden 100mb before installing a new clean install???

I don't know if absolutely have to delete it, but I do, and it hasn't caused me any problems. I didn't want to end up in a situation where I get asked to chose from two versions of windows 7 when there is really is only one installed. I'm not sure that would happen but that was my logic for wiping it out, the boot loader is on that partition.

It seems to me that the installation information on the USB for booting up was not read as it should be.(as it is not booting up the USB)
Either it may have happened if you havent selected your boot device properly or there is some problem with your windows image.

Please check your installation USB drive in another computer and report back.IMO, Booting up of a installation does not depend upon the installed OS.

Please post back a screenshot of your full Disk Management drive map & listings using Snipping Tool in Start Menu. Tell us what is on each partition.
