My Toshiba Satellite laptop encounters problems with reading DVD discs in the drive. I received Windows 7 as a gift and because the laptop can't read these discs, I cannot install the software. Is there anyway I can download the software online and then enter my product key when necessary? Or use my product key to download the software?
You can use another computer to open the DVD and copy its files to a folder. Then move the folder via flash stick, external HD or your network to the target machine. Once there, run Setup file as Administrator to in-place Upgrade or Clean (Custom Install) Win7. Clean Install Windows 7
If you have a 4gb+ flash stick, you might as well write the DVD's ISO image file to the stick so you have a bootable installer which can also be used to repair Win7 if it won't start. The easiest method is to extract the ISO file from DVD using ImgBurn, then install UltraISO trial version, on File tab Open ISO, on Bootable tab Write Disk Image, then use Format Button, next Write button. Boot the flash stick by setting it as first device to boot in BIOS setup, or using one-time BIOS Boot Menu key.

Just a small suggestion...might want to fix/replace the dvd first....could save a lot of heartburn the problem goes deeper than a bad drive....
Try this:
With the Windows 7 DVD/Flash stick tool Seekermeister uploaded, try writing the ISO you extract from DVD to flash stick. It can sometimes be fussy, however, about the ISO source.
