    Installing Win7Pro on new computer

I just recently built a new computer myself, and am trying to put Windows 7 on it. I downloaded Win7 Pro with the student discount from the MS website as an ISO file. I keep being told to burn the ISO file to a DVD +R and install it that way, but for some reason when I downloaded it from the MS website it downloaded as a ZIP file and now I don't know what to do. The ZIP file is an ISO, so should I burn it to a DVD +R anyway or do I need to do something else? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Edit: Basically I just need to now if I can just burn the Zip file to the DVD because it is also an ISO file.

Have you extracted the ISO from the zip file with Winzip or 7-Up or a similar application?

If so, what happens when you try to burn it?

I use DVD-R Discs. I use ImgBurn (Freeware) to burn at 4x speed with Verify ON

Yes you need to unzip it, unzip it to desktop and there you should see a .iso file (it will look like a dvd disk icon) then burn it like the Doc says!!

I just did exactly that, but I left the file as a zip file and its in the verify stage now.

When I unzip it to the desktop it turns into a regular folder not an ISO file.

What happens when you click that "regular folder"??

    Something's goofy.

    Try to download it again.

Look for a non-zipped version at the download site.

Are you sure? on my new computer its at the part where I select the language/time zone and keyboard input method, using this disk I burned the Zip/ISO file too.

Winzip has been doing this to me for a long time, anything and everything I download now comes in as a zip file, i don't know why.

And when I clicked that regular folder all the files for Win7 are there.
