How long to install Win 7
I was quite taken aback when I installed Win 7 x64 (7232) it only took 12 mins from start to finish. That included reformatting the drive and entering the serial

Wow, that is fast. My time for total upgrade was 45 min, last reboot to allow reset of FW and AV. - 48 min, but then I do not have to reinstall, 2d Browser, Office 2010,
EMAIL, Nothing it is already done...

I understand the difference in time. My question/comment was posed to ask what is your total install time, to include all the programs you want to test.

Whether dvd or usb flash the average on every build so far has been right at 20 minutes compared to XP or Vista or any other older version taking the best part of an hour for the basic installation. I find it a little hard to believe you partitioned and formatted a drive as well as a full clean install in only 12minutes total.

Well I don't remember anybody mentioning making a partition in that time. I certainly didn't. When I do the same as Vipermk2 in reformatting when doing a Clean install, the whole install process from start to finish including the formatting takes approximately 12 minutes for me.

The drives/partitions here are either already formatted clean or simply an install to replaced a previous installation by booting from dvd or usb key still seeing 20+ minutes even for the x86 while the x64bit installation always seem a bit faster.
Regardless in real world time the minimum on more then one system has been at least 20 to reach the desktop for the first time on each one. 12 minutes seems a bit too fast to be real unless chopping files out for any stock system.
Still at 20-25 minutes for the bare essentials compare that to the time spent on anything else! The list of programs may not be the largest while the total amount of time for everything including the virtual machines, adding items like the control panel onto the taskbar, and other tweaks usually is not all at once.
