The drives/partitions here are either already formatted clean or simply an install to replaced a previous installation by booting from dvd or usb key still seeing 20+ minutes even for the x86 while the x64bit installation always seem a bit faster.

Regardless in real world time the minimum on more then one system has been at least 20 to reach the desktop for the first time on each one. 12 minutes seems a bit too fast to be real unless chopping files out for any stock system.

Still at 20-25 minutes for the bare essentials compare that to the time spent on anything else! The list of programs may not be the largest while the total amount of time for everything including the virtual machines, adding items like the control panel onto the taskbar, and other tweaks usually is not all at once.

I don't know if you're just not reading wholly what people write or just not listening.

I can have a Windows 7 x64 build on DVD, restart my computer to boot from it, and from the time I boot off the disk..reformat the drive, and everything else between that to the desktop in 12 minutes. No file skipping, No incompletion, etc. If you don't believe it, then don't.

If I had a camcorder setup you could time it for yourself on how long the various installations actually take here when the videos were uploaded onto Youtube. The 20 minute average is booting from the dvd where the primary is already reformatted at times or a totally new one already formatted since the installer for 7 still lacks in the drive tools area.

At 12min. in the updates are then being installed if you happened to check off that option? Once the installation is complete I only find a few items listed for download being monitor, video card if not already installed, tuner card, keyboard, etc. there. The only way to see less time would be by leaving the updates option unchecked and waiting until afterwards to then see the pile loaded on.

I'm not going to upload a video just to prove it to you. Updates included. I only have two updates, one for a modem driver, and a Win defender definition update.

Like I said, if you don't believe it, then don't.

I think mine was around 15 min but then again I was not paying a lot of attention. 12 min is pretty awesome though. Regardless the install times are a lot less than before which is great.

What is this discussion about? Everybody could noticed that insatallation is fast and smooth. Does it matter how long it takes? 12 , 15 or 15.51 min! It is not F1 race. Enjoy!

Again the speed of CLEAN install makes NO MATTER (it is Fast).
How long does it take to install all your programs.... that you want to test.
I'm also testing Office 2010, and a Monster Submarine Game.
plus Live mail and MUv4. reference to my post. #3 and #6.

That depends on my frame of mind, it could take between 1 and 4 hours, Depends If I'm on the ball or not.
