Hard drive space is too small.

Have an Asus K52F laptop with windows 7 premium 32bit. The C drive(hard drive) being the main drive where everything get saved to only has 75GB of space (it's formatted and won't let me change anything) whilst the Data (partition) drive has 206GB of space. I was wondering if it's possible to swap the amount of space between them or can i make the data drive a main save point like the C or should i try the recovery disks and see if a partition option appears???

The programs that came with the laptop takes up a third of the Hard disk space so adding pics, music and a few games uses the rest up very quickly. I moved all my music, pics and games to the data drive for a short period of time but the programs couldn't locate the data so i've now moved them to my external hard drive so i and i'm hoping they don't have to stay there.

All suggestions welcome. Please help me with my space problem.

Well, I'd begin by uninstalling the programs you dont use.

You can alter partitions using disk management ( press the windows key and type in disk management). Its pretty easy. (Backup your stuff before making any changes. I've only ever resized empty partitions, so I have no idea what effect it would have on a partition thats being used)

You could also backup your stuff and reinstall Windows(reformatting the disk during the install should leave you with a single partition, well two, if you count the 100Mb one that WIndows makes). Then transfer everything you need.
I'd take that last route. Its probably going to be the easiest route, and I'll leave you with a clean unbloated machine.

Hello Michellina53, welcome to Seven Forums!

You can shrink/resize the left side of the data partition so that created space can be added to the C: partition, have a look at Step One of the tutorial at the link below for an outline of that process to use.

Clean Install Windows 7 : Ahead of Vista

Once you have the unallocated space, it can be added to the C: partition using the method in this tutorial.

There are some other outlines listed in this tutorial.

There's always this tutorial that may be helpful.

Before you do anything I suggest
If your PC came with the operating system installed then look at (1),(2)
    (1) Make sure you have your factory recovery disks made
    (2) Don't interfere with your recovery partition.
    and
    (3) All your data is backed up and ideally your system is imaged

Your current situation actually has some advantages.
75 GB is a good size for the operating system, installed programs and yes a little data. But it's a good size for imaging with the bulk of your data on another partition. But you must do it the correct way.
I suggest you at least have a look at this tutorial before repartitioning your HDD.
User Folders - Change Default Location

BFK has given you the steps to repartition if you want to go that way.

Actually the resize of the data partition could be done with the free Windows installable version found at this link below, you would not have to use the bootable version.
