Windows 7 64bit intallation issue

Hey guys, I'm trying to clean reinstall windows 7 64 bit on my medion laptop after a an audio driver update required me to perform a unsuccessful system restore. At first I installed the 32 bit version which worked fine until I restarted. I then decided to install the 64 bit windows 7 via recovery disk. Unfortuately when choosing where to install tue primary partition has a notice "windows cannot be installed to this disk. The disk may fail soon. If other hard disk are available, install windows to another location".

Why has this error appeared in the 64 bit version and not the 32. And what can I do to successfully install 64 bit windows at this point?

Cheers.

Hello Nudzore, welcome to Seven Forums!

First, are you sure the PC is capable of running 64-bit Windows; it may be a good idea to run the compatibility checker listed at this link below.

Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

Next you could run the Hard Disk Drive makers utility to check and repair the HDD if possible, from this link.

Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities

Then the best way to go forward is to do a complete wipe (secure erase) of the HDD after you have backed-up any/all data you need to save, have a look at this information at the link below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

After you have made backups of everything you care to save and you want to do a real wipe "clean all" to the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) have a look at this tutorial at the link below, it over-writes everything, all the old Windows code including all the old Windows drivers, giving you the best possible space to install Windows 7 to; it goes hand-in-hand with a clean install.

Successfully completed diskpart clear all and created new partition, the notice is still there on both 64 and 32 bit recovery disks.
Added specs to profile.

Hello again.

The CPU listed in your specs is 64-bit capable.

Using the same method to boot to a command window when the window opens type chkdsk instead of diskpart and follow Option Two of the tutorial at the link below to do a scan/repair of the Hard Disk Drive.

Are you using the Medion Akoya MD98330 Recovery Disks.
Have you read the manual for Medion Akoya MD98330, Restore is from page 89.

If you need to download the manual your model is, MEDION AKOYA E6214 (MD 98330).

Yes current on the MD98330 and have read through te manual

After installing the driver I did a system restore to a point just before the intallation, that's when the reboots failed and the system crashed. I do recall however a second restore point which was earlier then the point i'd chosen. But since then I have formatted the primary hard drive so it would be unlikely that point still exists unless its on a seperate HD.

Completed the check twice and reinstalled, the notice was still there but I continued. Now its stuck on the starting windows screen without the logo but looks promising. Ill give it another half hour then restart.
