The only catch for this is everytime you want to boot to your win7 you have to go back to your BIOS again and set to AHCI, same for booting to win xp you have to set again to IDE or else you'll get blue screen. There must be a workaround out there. I'm still trying to find.
There is no setting ion the BIOS for SATA or anything else.

nothing AHCI? nothing IDE? Anything to do with SATA, or the hard drive at all?

Check carefully - some parts may be hidden to prevent system stability..

Hello.

Have you tried to slip the SATA drivers into the XP installation files as has been suggested; have a look at this tutorial at the link below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

Reset your BIOS back to default.

First check for all the Win XP drivers for your hardware.
If your Win XP CD, does not support your Sata Controller, you will need to load drivers to uses at F6.
Load Sata Controller drivers with a floppy disk is the best way.

SATA Drivers - Load in Windows XP Setup on Dual Boot
OR
SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD

Your Sony VPCEB33FM/BJ has a Intel Sata Controller.
You can download your F6 Sata Controller drivers from here:

The Driver listed on the page for your model under Motherboards is for Win7 so probably won't work for XP: Sony eSupport - VPCEB33FM/BJ - Software Updates & Drivers

Follow theog's instructions above to locate the XP SATA controller drivers to insert via floppy drive at F6 prompt or slipstream into the XP installer.

It may actually be easier using XP Mode from within Win7 to run XP Programs which won't run using Win7 Compatibility Mode which makes programs think they are installing in XP.

You can also use Virtual Box or Virtual Player as an alternative to XP Mode.

If you have Win 7 pro then just use XPM, or set up a virtual machine (VMWare, Virtual Box, etc.). This would be better in the long run. Also, some of the new computers/laptops do not support XP as a bootable OS, hence the VM would be the best way to go. Good Luck.

And BTW, Welcome to the Sevens.
