Good to see you found a solution that worked for you and thanks for the update.
definitely! and this old(ish) T61 has 2 gig of ram and I can virtualize all of that with a better CPU and graphics, and a nearly 10 year old OS, I don't know what I was thinking! ;-) But 7 is now installed with everything working and all my already backed up stuff recovered, XP needs the boot now methinks
Post back a Disk management screenshot using SNipping Tool in Start Menu so we can be sure XP partition doesn't hold any boot critical files.
Are you still getting the Dual Boot Menu?
No, 7 setup nuked the partiton, then once 7 was installed and working, Easus partition manager did the rest, I'm all good now. :)
FYI use free Partition Wizard bootable CD which is failsafe in risky resizing operations. We've used it to help with tricky disk management operations here hundreds of times without fail.

I shall take that on-board when making critical changes to the main system, but for something I use other than my iPad in bed, not really bothered, why it still has 2 gigs or ram and a 5400 RPM drive, speed isn't crucial, as long as I can warehouse my most important files in a bit of a tank I don't mind really
