OK sometimes that happens, use the Hirens boot CD for the wipe to see if that will help.

Here is another excellent free program that has a boot CD that can be created to do all sorts of things with; have a look at Option Three for an outline of the wipe process.

Partition Wizard : Use the Bootable CD

We use modern tools which work best with Win7 here: free Partition Wizard bootable CD (linked earlier) and memtest86 CD.

Did you try any of the rest of the steps I posted: removing all but 2gb RAM or clearing CMOS?

Did you check the Sony Support Downloads webpage for your model to see if there is a newer BIOS version update? You can use one of the System Information Tools on Hiren's boot disk to check the installed version.

Look for an option to wipe the HD with zeroes on Hirens, like Partition Wizard or Dariks.

If you can't find it then burn to CD free Partition Wizard, boot it and wipe the HD from the Disk tab.

Then the Win7 DVD will autostart, select Custom Install, use Drive Options to create and format your partitions, install Win7 to first partition:

Go ahead and try the wipe using Partition Wizard to see if that will help, be sure to do the whole HDD and not just a single partition.
