Why didn't MS include gpedit.msc in all versions of Windows ?

I don't think I've had to use gpedit at all on my Win 7 Pro X64 system. All the tweaks I've felt necessary I could make via registry hacks.

I don't find anything by searching that explains how to add Group Policy Editor to a WIn 7 release that does not support it. All I can suggest is if you really need gpedit, buy a copy of one of the Win 7 releases that supports it.

Because the average home user will NEVER need what gpedit provides. It's really geared towards businesses and IT groups that need to ensure desktops are in compliance with business requirements. I think that 95% of home users find they can tweak every thing they would ever want to tweak and no nothing about the group policy editor. I'm wondering why the "group policy" editor has become synonymous with a tweak tool. It's not really a tweaking too, but rather a framework for setting common settings for all users and all computers in your environment.

I use Group Policy at work to manage group policy objects on my active directory domain. I've never used it at home.
