Windows 7: Installation Failing

First, I want to thank everyone who helped me work through this. Every comment was thoughtful and meaningful, and everyone was very patient walking me through each step, so thank you!

So I decided to remove my 1TB SATA 6Gb/s HD and install the new 500GB SATA 3Gb/s one and installed 7 on the new drive. There were zero issues, everything loaded perfectly and cleanly, and I’ve been running it for several hours now with no crashing. I think I had a bad HD, SATA 6Gb/s cable, or motherboard port. (my new project is to figure out which)

Everything is running very fast, and no problems. Installed all my updates and much of the software I want.

You might want to plug in the old HD to run the maker's diag/repair extended CD scan: HD Diagnostic followed by Disk Check.

If it repairs or tests ok with both then you can wipe it to use as a data drive: Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command

Thanks for the report back. Let us know if you have anything else we can help with.

Did you attempt to figure out the problem with the SATA III port yet? I have the same setup as you and im very disgusted that it will not work correctly.

Same Problem

I built the rig on Thursday evening and had the same errors when using the Sata 3 drives. So far I cannot get windows 7 to even format or communicate with them but the Sata 2 and performance of this rig is phenomenal. I have seen several post that the Sata 3 ports were defective. So far this seems to be the case for me.

Fixed!

Tried all the things suggested in this thread. Turns out to be a defective 6gs port. Just put in the replacement and no problems.

Love the board so far.... FAST!
