Windows 7: Installation issue w/W7 & SSD/ HDD

Windows 7 Home premium 64bit

WHS: I checked my SSD partition and it is not properly aligned. Still, I tried to follow BFK instruction but options were not available.
I powered down my system, unplugged HDD, connected SSD to Sata 1 & DVD to Sata 2, set boot order as dvd/ removable media(?)/ SSD, reformatted SSD, reinstalled Windows 7.
After reloading my primary programs, I will reconnect HDD and reformat it.

Thanks for everyone's input

I think you did the right thing. Working with an OS partition that is not properly aligned would have cost you a lot of performance (they say up to 300% degradation - I never checked that though).

There are ways to align a partition after the OS is installed, but that either costs you $30 because you need a commercial program, or it is hazardous if you do it yourself.
