Installing Windows 7 Ultimate in another laptop?

I have two laptops: one with Windows 7 Home, and the other one with Windows 7 Ultimate.

I am currently using the newer laptop with Windows 7 Home, but I would like to install Windows 7 Ultimate from the CDs I purchased (which I used for the older laptop). What do I need to do? Do I need to unregister the laptop with Ultimate or can I just install Ultimate in this newer laptop?

    Thanks.

Hello vmhatup, welcome to Seven Forusm.

You will need a Windows 7 Ultimate activation key to activate the installation to the second laptop, you cannot use the same activation key you used for Home Premium.

Hi Vmhatup, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Although some other geeks laugh at me, saying this is stupid , I always deactivate Windows i.e. uninstall the product key before using the same key on another computer.

The deactivation method is described in this post.

    No install files needed.
Only the Upgrade key is neeed.
Anytime upgrade only adds-on the Programs & Features from version to version.
