Help Err2Err3 on first try win 7 upgrade

Hi all, this is my first post in Seven Forums.. richc 46 has given me good info on upgrading from a vista to win 7 OS, this was after a long battle with just trying to get Vista OS back..No success.... First off I am a babe in the woods with computers, so please bear with me.. The vista OS was to a point that it would not even boot to safe mode or anything else for that matter, I did get back into bios and get the boot option set back to CD/DVD (I hope i got it right) I powered up the computer and put the new Win 7 Home Premium 32bit disk in to the drive unit and rebooted the HP LOGO screen came up and then it went to black with the words hit any key to continue Err2Err3_ and that is as far as it went. I have read all the information about a clean install and all the pit falls but right now I don't have a clue what to do next. My system is a HP M 8200n pc Pavilion media center AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core, 3072 MB memory 500GB HD, Nvidia GeForse 6150se ...Any help would be appreciated.. Island boy.. Thank you for responding BF Kid, That is part of the problem I can't access anything, So back up is out. I have read over many of the items you have suggested, as I read some of these I wondered if any of these would work. I thank you for heading me in the right direction, I know all of this is easy for some, but I learned to turn a computer on about 2 yrs ago and I am still learning not to hit a key until I know what it does.. Hi rich, I know the HP vista computer will handle Win 7 alright, but by the time I needed to consult the download adviser the hard drive and the registry was corrupted. At this time, I guess I will have to wipe the HHD by trying to use the command prompt and make sure the bios is set correctly, I was under the impression that when I booted from the Win 7 up grade disk that it would automatically reset the bios and wipe the HHD, but as always, so far I don't understand computer speak.. I need to get some sleep but I will keep working at it. I will secede in time.. Thanks rich.. I boy

I didn't see your earlier thread to repair Vista, but did you try booting the Vista DVD or Repair CD to run Startup Repair repeatedly? I would try this first to see if indeed your disks will boot, and try to repair Vista. Windows Vista Recovery Disc Download — The NeoSmart Files

If you are prompted to Press any Key to Boot DVD and it won't then you likely have a bad DVD burn or bad ISO. Where did you get Win7? Try burning another DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed with verify. http://download.cnet.com/ImgBurn/300...-10847481.html

Is there a newer BIOS version update on your HP Support Downloads webpage for your model? If not try resetting the BIOS: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixthe.../clearcmos.htm

If you still can't get the DVD to boot correctly, try writing the ISO to flash stick, then boot the flash stick under USB or HD's: Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool

Try tapping the HP F12 or ESC key to access the BIOS Boot Menu key to trigger DVD or Flash drive.

Once you get the Win7 DVD booted, copy out your files using this method: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

If none of this works, then burn to CD free Partition Wizard bootable CD which will autostart, then from the Disk tab Wipe the HD with zeros. This will then force the Win7 DVD to autostart.

Well all I guess the machine just died, I can no longer shut the power off by pressing the on and off button.. The screen is stuck with light blue background, HP logo and at the right bottom is written, Entering setup.... <F10 = setup> <ESC= Boot Menu> and the far right bottom <F 11= System Recovery> V 5.20... I have tried many of the suggestions and still can't get past black screen with Err2Err3_ at the top... I was in the process of trying to make sure I had the drive boot priority in Bios set correctly when it froze.. I guess I am in the market for a new machine now as this was my wife's computer. I will use this one for total learning now.. I am sure that my lack of knowledge and ability played a total part in not being able to get this machine up and running again, but it was not for lacking input from all of you that that did your best at advising me on workarounds for the different problems at hand. Next I will unplug to shut down power and and keep on trying to learn and persevere in making this damn thing run... Try this again.!!! I unplugged power and then power was back to normal. I booted with a windows+vista+32bit+repair+disk.iso The light blue screen with the HP logo and the info for setup boot menu etc. came on, then I got into Bios menu and checked boot order made sure it was set to cd.DVD first ect. and saved. then rebooted w/repair disk and got a BSOD . saying : The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for updated BIOS tec information.. Stop: 0x000000A5 (0x00000011, 0x00000008.0xFFD0D010,0x0100000E) Then I rebooted with no cd in place, it goes to light blue screen with HP logo etc. then to black screen with MediaShield Rom BIOS 9.83 copyright (c) 2007 Nvidia corp. Detecting Arrays..._ Printed just like I have it at the left top of screen. Any Idea what all this means? the computer I am working on is not on line and I don't know how I would get the update into it anyway. If I could get into safe mode I might have a chance but right now safe mode is not working either.. Iboy..
