Installing windowns 7 on a laptop with linux

Hi i bought a laptop with linux installed in it but i already had a windows 7 from my old pc so how do I install do a clean install on this lap top?When i try it says it can't be installed

If your "old" Windows 7 is not an OEM version.

You have to over-write all the old Linux code first; I would suggest, after you have copied out or made back-ups of the data you need to save to external media, use Step One of this tutorial at the link below to do a wipe (secure erase) to the entire Hard Disk Drive, running this then using the outline in Step Two #2 to create/format and mark Active a single 100GB partition using diskpart will get you the best possible space to clean install Windows 7 to.

All Linux code must be deleted.As you have had linux on the HD you need do a Clean all & full format.
Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command

Do a full clean & full format in command prompt.
1) Boot DVD & Press Shift+F10 (for command prompt)
DISKPART : At PC Startup
2) Boot DVD, & Command Prompt at Startup
(for command prompt)

Type in command line
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (win HD)
CLEAN ALL
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT fs=NTFS
ASSIGN
EXIT
EXIT

I have HP 630 laptop with Linux. I came to the CLEAN ALL step.

The cursor blinking 8 hours, I read that it should clean 300 GB per hour. I have 500 GB Hard Drive.

Should I cancel this and try only CLEAN or i should leave as it is now and wait untill is finished ?

I would say, YES.

You may like to Check the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tools.

I never got the need to use clean all when converting a Linux partition to NTFS. Partition delete, partition create, and slow format as NTFS always worked for me.

I accidently pressed the key "e" on keyboard and i got message "Diskpart succeeded in cleaning the disk".

I will continue with the steps above.

To save a bit of time, go to install Windows.
