You'll have to buy an Anytime Upgrade key to change from Home Premium to Pro version.

You can also use a retail Pro key.

Just type Anytime in Start Search box to start the Process, then insert the Pro Key.

I have the 7 home premium install that came with it from dell. it is activated. The COA sticker is for the 7 home premium, so can i use that for the 7 pro? i guess that is what i'm asking.

If you're looking to upgrade from Home Premium to Pro, I would use Anytime Upgrade.

Type Anytime Upgrade into start search box, insert the Pro Product Key which you buy.

I would be careful where I buy the Product key - only use a reliable seller.

You can use either an Anytime key or a retail key.

The Dell resource disk contains device drivers, diagnostic utilities and links to online documentation relevant to the specific model it was made for. It does not contain the OS, so it cant be used to reinstall the OS. If anybody on Ebay is advertising that the resource disk can be used to reinstall the OS, they are frauding. If you have a dell with a genuine win7 home premium you can download the resource disk from dell's support page.

If you want to upgrade to pro, buy an anytime license or an upgrade license as already advised.

To answer your question, no, you can't use a Home Premium key with a Pro installation.
