Windows 7 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit

I know it has probably been covered multiple times and I'm sorry but I got tired of looking.

I recently upgraded to Window 7 32-bit from Vista 32-bit. I'm realizing now that I want to go with 64-bit instead. I tried booting from the 64-bit upgrade disc and it won't notice it. Then I made sure my drive works by trying to boot from the 32-bit disc and that worked.

My next thought was to go back to Vista 32-bit and then upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit. When I boot from Vista it get stuck on "please wait". I'm guessing I need to delete the partition and start over fresh with vista and then upgrade.

Will this work and how excatly should I go about it?

You cannot run 64 bit from 32 bit OS.

You'll need to boot the 64 bit DVD: Boot from CD - How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD - Boot to CD

Where did you get Win7? Did you burn the 64 bit DVD yourself? If so, burn another with ImgBurn at 4x speed with Verify.

Or install using bootable flash stick: Install Ultra ISO trial version, on File tab Open ISO, on Bootable tab Write Disk Image, Format, Write. Boot under USB or HD's on One-time BIOS Boot Menu.

Confirm your ISO source file integrity.

No. If you are currently running a 32-bit version of Windows, you can only perform an upgrade to another 32-bit version of Windows. Similarly, if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows, you can only perform an upgrade to another 64-bit version of Windows.

I have the actual DVD that came with the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade. I have a 4GB Flash drive. So you think that will work over the dvd-rom? I can hear it try to start reading and boot from dvd but it doesn't.

So do I have to delete the partition, reinstall Vista 32bit, and then restart and boot from Wondows 7 64bit DVD? Does that sound like it will work?
Can I delete the partition off the the Vista setup. I ask because I tried to boot from Vista and it hangs up right after I click install.
