    Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional


    I have a Dell XPS 410 that I purchased about 4 years ago with Windows XP installed. I bought and installed an upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium. I have 4 Gb RAM and approximately 60 Gb free disk space. Can I purchase and install an upgrade to Windows 7 Professional?

    You can purchase the windows 7 professional upgrade and do a clean install but you can't do an in-place upgrade from vista home premium to windows 7 professional. Vista home premium can only do an in-place upgrade to windows 7 home premium or windows 7 ultimate.

    I guess I won't hurry to purchase a Windows 7 Professional upgrade. I will probably wait and purchase Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade later, since they are not currently on sale.
