Installing an older build over current installation

    Hey guys

I was wondering how you would go about installing an older build of windows 7 over a later build

Im trying to install 7127 over 7229 but not getting far as I can't find any relevant information on google

Have to downgrade seeing as punkbuster refuses to work with 7229 no matter what I do

    Any help is appreciated :)

Boot from the 7127 DVD and clean install to the same partition 7229 is on. Do not format the hard drive and your existing files will be saved in Windows.old folder.

Yeah the idea was to do an actual upgrade so I don't have to reinstall everything, I just finished doing that :/

I'd backup everything to another partition and then format if i was going to do it that way

im sure there must be a way to change the version of your install so that setup will upgrade over it

clean install no problem. downgrade install change the cversion.ini to min build under 7127 and max to over 7229. hope this helps there are several thread on editing cversion.ini and upgrading. If you are gonna do a clean install its a piece of cake.

I must have been wrong about max version. why not do a clean install it might even clean up the problems you are having right now?

The only problem now, is with punkbuster not working.

Will take far too long to reinstall everything now as I have only just got everything back to the way i have things after a few months.

Is there any way to change the version number on the current installation so that it will think it is a different revision other than 7229?
