Reset OS to when it was first installed

I have a Inspiron 1545 Dell that came with Windows Vista at first, but then I put in Windows 7 Ultimate and got rid of the Windows Vista Partition. What I want to do now is to put Windows 7 Ultimate back to when I first installed it, as in have it to where I just got done installing Windows 7 Ultimate. Is there a way I can reset the computer to where I will not need the CD or the serial key to do this, because I no longer have possession of the CD or key. I do not have System Restore points at that time or any backup of that time either. If I reset it will it reset to Vista? I do not want to go back to Vista I want to be able to keep Windows 7.

Where did you get Win7? How was it activated?

Why don't you have a DVD or Product Key?

Answer these questions fully and we can help you.

Then you'll have to cough up the money for a legit copy.

My uncle had Windows 7 Ultimate and installed it on my computer back in November of 2010. He had the DVD box and CD and the key. He fixed it up for me while I was outside so I'm not fully sure what he did but it was a legit copy.

Yeah. That legit copy is only supposed to be installed on one rig though, so if your uncle has never used it for his computer, you can simply ask him for the DVD and install it again.

To answer your initial question: No, it's not possible to reset your notebook automagically to the default settings right after install - unless you made an image of your HD, that is.

Okay thanks for your help. I won't be able to get the DVD from him since he is too far away, but thanks anyways. I wish I was smart enough to made a restore point when he first installed it or an image/backup -.-" oh well I guess I'll have to try and find as many files as I can and just delete whatever I can.

Well, if he never used the DVD, he could send it to you by mail...

Ask your Uncle for the DVD and Product Key which should be on a card insert in the packaging. If he doesn't have it you can scan the Win7 Product key off of the HD using Belarc Advisor - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

Now you only need to find an installation DVD for your version of Win7 to Clean Reinstall or run a Repair Install. See what version you have at Control Panel>System. You can borrow or find an installer to copy using ImgBurn. If you download from the internet, be sure to rightclick scan the ISO with your AV and Malwarebytes

Until then you can clean up your computer following these tips: Clean up factory bloatware

Okay. I had downloaded some kind of CD for Windows 7 before to do some kind of Clean Install or something since I messed with it trying to get Vista off. I did like a Repair Install I believe. I don't have any way of contacting my uncle for the information. So if I obtain the serial key with BelArch and use my Repair Install CD will this be a method of getting it back to the start?
