Windows 7: I'm geting nuts over here!!!

Guys, believe it or not, I have been trying it and the folders are still there and I still can't erase them! This is probably something stupid that I did in the past, that's why I need to format the C: ! Plus, in the "regedit" there are still the entries of old programs that I used to have. I don't want them there, I would delete them manually but it is too risky for me cause I'm not sure of what should I delete... A format would be perfect! Is there any other slution? Like, duing the windows instalation for example, can I create a new partition and run things over there or any special software that alloes me to do it, any trick, I don't know...

I miss the times of the start up floppy disks...

Thanks for your patience guys!

Have a look at This

It states that after 2 failed installs the Windows.old folders (multiple) were picked up in disk cleanup.

Maybe this is too simple a suggestion and I'm unfamiliar with how 7 protects files and such. But couldn't the OP click Start > Computer > right-click C: > Format? Then when it's time to reinstall the OS, power up the computer and click F10 (or whatever other key is required) to access the one-time BIOS boot order.

Ok, but how bout the registry entries that I want to get rid of? This is the main reason (and virus that I can+t get rid of) why I need to format the unit. If I can somehow create a partition on my laptop big enough to put a new windows there, at least I know how to solve the problem. But the problem is that the computer managment tool to do the partitions only allows me to create a unit with 1,7Gb space and no more. Not even the option to expand the unit is possible! An error message comes up and says that it isn't possible due to the unmovable files... Can I do something to go around this? Is there a way to expand this little partition??

Thanks!

"When you shrink a partition, unmovable files (for example, the paging file or the shadow copy storage area) are not automatically relocated and you cannot decrease the allocated space beyond the point where the unmovable files are located. If you need to shrink the partition further, move the paging file to another disk, delete the stored shadow copies, shrink the volume, and then move the paging file back to the disk."

This was on the windows help. How can I move the unmovable files? What am I suposed to search for?

Thanks for your patience and effort!

try this utility, Hiren's Boot Hiren's BootCD 13.1 - All in one Bootable CD www.hiren.info
it has plenty of hard drive formatting tools. be aware that you wont be able to retrieve anything from the drive without special tools. if you are very worried about especially sensitive data you might consider WipeDrive Try a WipeDrive Download - Download the Free WipeDrive Demo

It didn't help, I have to pay the program in order for the program format my complete hard drive. I would like to do it for free! You know, like the old days where it was free to do format c: on DOS. Is there any way to create a partition on the hard drive? I really need this done...

Try the hirens boot it should let you use it free it also has lots of other great troubleshooting utilities for other problems you may have later. I suggest a thumbdrive because you can use it on netbooks and the like as well.

One point worth remembering is that you will need to change your boot order again or figure out how to access your boot menu
