Installing Windows 7 on a Second Computer

I purchased the Windows 7 upgrade, and with the help of members of this forum was able to install it on my computer. Now I would like to upgrade my husband's laptop computer to Windows 7 from Vista. Is it possible to do this with the same disk, or do I have to purchase another? I realize that I would have to purchase another license, but how do I do this with the disk I already have?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You can do it with the same disk as long as the cd key is similiar to the OS version that the CD carries.

There really are no difference in CD's only the CD Key's make the big difference when you buy it. You are basically buying the CD Key for 300 dollars and getting the CDs free with the purchase.

I'm not trying to use the same license key. I realize I will have to purchase another. Is there a way to do this, or do I have to purchase another CD to install the program on a second computer?

    Hi again Karen -

Yes you can use the same installer to do an in-place upgrade from Vista or even clean install, then insert the Product key you purchase for this purpose.

Right now the best deal is Home Premium Upgrade family 3 pack on Amazon for $119 - three licenses for the price of one, which can be installed on any qualifying machines (which had XP/Vista or you have one on hand) and can migrate for life.

    Hi Greg,

I ordered the upgrade from Amazon and will do a clean install with it on my husband's machine as I did on my own. His has been acting weird, and won't even do a back-up to the external hard drive anymore, so he's backing up what he needs to CDs, so it will be available when the install is done. We now have unlimited high speed internet, so from now on we'll use a back-up service on the internet and not have to bother with the external hard drive.

I'll be back if I have any problems..... .

You get 25gb free storage on Windows Live Office or Skydrive with each Live ID.
