Win 7 Pro x64 Install Issue


I bought a used HP xw6200 workstation and wish to install Win 7 Pro x64 on it. During the install, I go to do a fresh install ona known good Seagate 500GB Barracuda ES hard drive, it does NOT appear, but in BIOS, the drive shows. What gives? Need help ASAP...

Is there an error message, or does it load correctly and then present a blank drives screen?

Since SATA controllers are all in Win7 installer, normally this is a bad installer issue.

Where did you get Win7? Did you burn the DVD yourself? If so, confirm ISO integrity and burn another using ImgBurn at 4x speed with Verify.

Next try installing from USB flash stick: install UltraISO trial version, on File tab open ISO or DVD, on Bootable tab Write Disk Image, Format, Write. Boot under USB or HD's.

If these don't work, try prepartitioning with Diskpart and marking target partition Active, using Step 2.2 here: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Test the HD using maker's diagnostic/repair extended CD scan: SeaTools Seagate

I resolved the issue by first loading XP Pro onto the unit, then upgrading to Win 7 Pro x64. I had used the install disk before and it worked normally. Somehow 7 was unable to see the drive, when in fact it should have...

All's well that ends well...
