You might have answered your question...are you sure that the HD isn't fried or otherwise damaged. Try installing to another HD
I dont think that my HD is fried or damaged because 4 days ago it work with xp and I dont think that the disk is corrupted because Ive downloaded it 4 times and used both disk on key and DVD disk

I have the EXACT same problem. I've attempted the installation 6 times now after modifying bios settings/attempting a clean upgrade. The computer just decides to unexpectedly shut-down then reboot in that last stage!

    Hardware:
    ASUS Maximus Formula X38
    Q6600
    GeForce 8800GTX

I would really appreciate some help with this issue.

Both of you have Nvidia GeForce Series 8 cards. Perhaps the video driver is the problem.
Using standard VGA may help to get the installation done, then grab the drivers from Nvidia afterwards.

1.) On the same error screen press SHIFT+F10 and it will open up a black Window. (a command prompt window)

2.) In the black window, type the word "regedit" (without the quotes) and hit enter. That will open the registry editor.

    3.) In the Registry Editor..
    Browse to....
HKLocalmachine/SYSTEM/SETUP/STATUS/ChildCompletion, and after highlighting childcompletion, on the right hand side check for setup.exe. If the value is 1 change it to 3 (by double clicking on setup.exe and changing the value shown in the box).

4.) Then close the registry editor and close the black window. Then click on OK for the error and the computer will restart and the installation may complete. just try it and let me know if it worked.

Enter the Device Manager during failed install to uninstall any drivers in error, likely the Display driver, so that installation will complete and you can reinstall driver from desktop: Device Manager - Access During Windows 7 Installation
