repair install error
I need to perform a repair install on my Win 7 SP1 system. I have my original Win 7 SP1 Upgrade disk.
A few days ago I attempted to run a repair install and got an error (or at least a splash screen) near the end of the installation saying that the version of Win 7 I was installing was older than the version I had installed. As a result the install didn't complete.
Is there a way around this problem?
Also, in speaking to MS Support the tech advised me to first boot from my Upgrade disk, and then ren the repair install from there. Everywhere else I've read that you first boot the computer into Win7, then insert the DVD and move on from there.
I'm assuming that the tech was incorrect and I first boot Win 7 on my computer, then insert the DVD. Correct?
