Startng Your Computer for the Frst Tme . .

Ok, about a week and a half ago I moved our Wndows 7 RC 7100 media center pc to a new box (Thermaltake DH 102). Well, after a reinstall of Windows 7 RC 7100, I found that the 7in touch screen just wasn't working with 7, so I kicked myself in the ass and reverted to Vista, wich worked flawlessly.

Then, about 4 days ago, I downloaded Wndows 7 (7264), installed, and to my enjoyment, along with my wifes, it to worked flawlessly.

Then she asked me to install our printer, a 4550 Lexmark WiFi enabled printer. Thats when it went down hill. After installing the printer, making sure everything worked right with the wireless, wich it did, I restarted and thought I was in a nightmare . . . I got this message

Startng Your Computer For The First Time

When the desktop reappeared, everything seemed fine, but no printer.

    Reinstalled, restarted again, . . . . . . same thing . . . .

Startng Your Computer For The First Time

No printer, but everything else is fine. I've downloaded the latest drivers from lexmark, tried compatibilty mode, and it all ends with the same result . . .

    Any ideas?

    Hey there Ken,

Nope, nothing in the event viewer, and by that I mean nothing even related to the install. Beyond that, there isn't even anything in the darn registry. Go figure that.

Yup, tried every driver I could find from Lexmark that supports wireless. Nothing works, but all end with the same result.

I would try the USB port, but the wife says it's either wireless, or nothing, and she needs the printer, so that leaves me with . . . .wireless.

Thanks for the quik reply, buddy

It also might be the order in which the drivers were installed. somes a driver will hog resources. try the exact opposite install.

    Hope it helps

    Ken,

Besides the printer, the only other drivers installed are the video (Latest nvidia) and my tv tuner (Both PCIe cards). No other devices installed at this point.

could it be a pci irq conflict? or just irq sharing?

Ok, I'm at a loss here . . . it seems that installing any printer triggers this event. I've just tried installing a usb Hp inkjet and the same thing happens.

So, my neighbor has a Canon Pixma Pro 9000 MKII that is runnng on Windows 7 (7264, same build as myself) with the Vista Drivers, and it works great.
So, he brings that over, we install, and guess what . . .

So, last night I reinstalled WIndows 7, performing a complete wipe, and the issue has returned . . . 'm downloading the rumored RTM now, so I'll see what happens.

Hope this helps me . .

Ok, installed 7600 and it seems the issue is gone.
Have installed the 4550 and it works great, wireless scanning and all.

I still would like to know what caused the issue in the first place.

I'm going to image my current drive, and try to recreate the problem.
