    In the future, unplug all other HD's and boot the Win7 DVD to install, as running the installer from C caused Win7 to take another drive letter and now it cannot reclaim C without a reinstall.

    That will not matter but some progs/apps you need to install may not be able to find C: to install to and that may cause serious issues in the long run;
    BFK, Greg,
    Yes indeed! So reinstall if convenient.

    More generally, say a reinstall was going to be a real nuisance, is there any way of reclaiming C: ? - I can't think of one.

    There's no way I know of to change a System drive letter without destroying the OS, other than for System Reserved partition.

    We know Win7 is locked to K because in the screenshot he's booted into K yet it doesn't assume C as Win7 would do if it were installed from boot. This tells us he installed it from C which held onto the letter as a result.

    I've yet to see an exception to this rule.
