just disable 2nd drive in Bios

i Got the same problem, when i was reinstalling windows 7 into the Pc with 2 hard drives with Mac OS on the one. I couldn't physically remove the Mac OS drive because of not owing the PC (it's in common use at school), so i just disable it in bios>hard drives. And it Works. Thank you guys!

    Remove the other drive

Windows needs to install on disk 0, if the other drive installed has that designation then it will error. Partitioning and formatting can be done via boot manager. Delete all partitions on destination disk, create a new partition, and install. Windows will create system partitions automatically. "Install drive must be disk 0"

p.s. Same rule applies for Windows 8

    Fixed my problem

I registered an account just to say thanks. I would have not thought to do this and I was already really strung out over not being able to get windows to install. Much appreciated.

    Dual boot windows 8?

I have a question I'm not sure if it was addressed already. I can disconnect my other SSD where windows 8.0 is installed, but after I install windows 8.1 onto my new drive, I want to ensure I have the ability to boot to either windows 8.0 or 8.1 at any time. Will removing the drive with windows 8.0 cause me to lose the dual-boot option?

After install you can boot your choice by setting the preferred OS hard drive to boot first in BIOS setup Boot priority order, then choose the other to boot using the one-time BIOS Boot menu key.

If this isn't to your liking you can install EasyBCD to the primary OS to add the other to a Windows Dual Boot menu.

You'll need two Windows 8 licenses to operate both versions.

when trying to reinstall windows 7 and it will not install
put the hdd on another computer and if it is not an active partition
set it to be an active partition if you don't want to format the drive the
install will do a fresh install but the old windows install will be moved
to the folder " windows.old... if f you delete the old partitions make sure
that there is only one drive on the system if there are other installs on
the system it will see a system partition and will not create it even though
it installed that will cause problems if A. that HDD dies or gets replaced
I.E. your system wont boot if the system partition is a different version of windows
you will get an incompatability message and the install will stop....

    FYI
