26gb is enough for win7, I would recommend you use this tutorial as its the one i used and had no problems at all. Also when you partition the drive give win7 atleast 20gb in the partition thats what I did and the installation used about 10-12gb plus you need to leave room for a few programs. Anyway here is the tut: How to Dual Boot Windows 7 with XP or Vista - How To - Lifehacker
Edit: It is really easy as vista and win7 use basically the same bootloader so there is no need to muck around with that. Just partition the drive as shown in the tut and install it from a disc, making sure you do a custom install and it should do the boot menu and stuff for you.
I have 15 gig on recovery drive and yes vista is already installed. where can i get dark drive. thanks
I think he meant Hard Drive? lol If you have 26gb free you can just partition your current hard drive with a new 20gb partition and install win7 on that. Also you may need to move all the data to the beginning of the drive with a tool such as Perfect Disk 10 other wise it may only let you shrink the drive by say 3gb but we want 20gb. So by moving the data to the start of the drive it frees up space at the end of the drive for the new partition.
