BSOD trying to install 7

Hi
I downloaded WIndows 7 7600.16385.090713-1255_x64fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GRMCULXFRER_EN_DVD_JC_.

I burnt it to a DVD at 8x speed and restarted the computer to boot into it. The Windows logo appears but then a Blue Screen of Death appears saying:

Driver IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL

with a lot of other text.

Any idea why?

Spec:
ABIT IB9 motherboad
8800GTX graphics card
E6600 Core 2 Duo processor
Western Digital 320GB HD
Lite On 20x DVD RW

Thanks

Hi and welcome to sevenforums
First your system specs. Like Clean install or upgrade. Also you could goto c:\windows\mindump and zip the dump log and upload.

If you tell us more we can help you more

Ken

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
My Vista installation was a clean install. There is nothing in the minidump folder.

When I boot into the Windows 7 DVD it says it is loading the setup files. After this the new Windows logo appears for about 10 seconds then the BSOD occurs,

Im sorry my brain seized. hope you dont mid if I try this again. You have vista and are trying to upgrade it to win 7? You got the iso image from MS, or somewhere reliable? You might want to burn it on a slower speed in the future. Its prob not this but I have seen it cause problems before. You're trying to install from a dvd player (internal, external) and of course your rig is 64 bit right.

Ok maybe these will help a little more than my dopey first post.

I have Vista but I won't be doing an upgrade install, it will be a clean install. It will be installed from an internal DVD RW drive and my pc is 64bit.

UPDATE: I just tested the DVD on my laptop and it boots it up fine.

How abt bios settings like max mem, legacy floppy support or max num cpu's. All three should be unchecked. and the usual bios upgrade

Hi
Thanks very much for your help. It works now. I disabled 'Execute Disable Bit', 'Virtulization Technology' and 'EIST Function'.

I am typing this in Windows 7 now.
