upgrade from vista home edition to win7 using...

hi,
i want to upgrade my hp dv2000 laptop from vista home edition (64bit) to win 7 and I have a question about the upgrade and I'd really appreciate a helping hand from someone who knows the answer.
the Q: can i do the upgrade using a win 7 ultimate full version? or do i have to use an upgrade version?
note. i don't want to use a clean instal because i don't want to lose my existing programs. Thanks!
Jay

Yes, you can, but the HP Recovery Partition will be unusable, make sure you burn the Recovery disks.

If you later find you need the more expensive full version Product Key to use on another installation, you can move it by clicking "Change Key" at Control Panel>System to insert a less expensive Upgrade version key.

What's a good sound card for Win7 Home Edition
Installed Windows 7 Home Edition on an older Compaq SR1616NX. Seems to run really well after I installed the Vista legacy video driver. The sound doesn't work though. Could someone recommend a PCI sound card that'll work with this OS? Thanks.
