    Windows 7 Re-install - 2 Retail copies

    Hi Windows 7 people,

I am hoping this is very easy to answer.

At the moment I have 2 retail copies of Windows 7, and have one installed on my desktop machine and one on my netbook.

I am upgrading the desktop machine, basically new motherboard, cpu, ram, HD and graphics.

I believe my key is good for a reinstall but I have a slight dilema as I don't know which key is installed on which machine! I obviously have 2 but didn't make a note when I first activated them. I don't want to get it wrong and have issues trying to use the same key on 2 machines.

Anyway I can cross reference information from the netbook / desktop installs with my retails key I still have in the boxes?

    Thanks,

    Mike

A key finding program will tell you which on each machine. There is a link to free one on this page

Unfortunately that page links to Magic Jelly Bean, says it only works with Windows 7 keys when you pay $24.99 for the more advanced version?

Is there no way I can cross reference the product details from my Windows 7 info page to the DVD(s)? I don't actually need the key again as I have it, I just need to know which of my keys is the correct one for the desktop.

Use Belarc to audit all hardware and installed software including keys. Print it out and save it.
