Uninstalling Win 7, reinstall Win XP, then install Win 7 on alt Laptop

Hello. I have a Dell latitude D610 running windows 7 home premium 32bit installed from a genuine windows 7 upgrade disc I purchased (windows is registered). My question is can I reformat my hard drive and install XP, then install the Windows 7 upgrade on another computer? My other laptop is faster, and I would like windows 7 on it. Thanks everyone!

1)You can reinstall Win XP to the Dell latitude D610.

2) You can install the Windows 7 upgrade to the other Noteboot, only if the nootbook is installed with Win XP or Vista.

You need a qualifying XP or Vista to use Upgrade version, even it it isn't installed at the time. This includes the native OS which came with the machine, or any retail copy you have which is not being used and you do not use again while it is being used to qualify for Upgrade.

If XP or Vista isn't on the HD, leave the Product Key blank during install and do one of the workarounds given here after install to activate on clean HD: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version
