Can't upgrade to RTM (patch problem?)

so I got the latest version of 7, and I am trying to upgrade my x63 7201 install.

When I patch the cversion.ini down to a version the same/below my build when I try ti install 7 I get the error:

Windows could not collect information for [OSImage] since the specified image file [install.wim] does not exist.

However, if I don't change the cversion.ini I can go further in the install, but it won't let me do the upgrade because of the version.

Is there something else I have to do to make this work?

Changing the cversion.ini is the only thing you would need to do. I have seen other people mention the "install.wim does not exist" problem and they came to the conclusion it was a bad release, so you may want to try downloading a different release.

That's what I initially thought, but since it would *work* without modifying the ini I assumed something else was wrong.

I also tried just mounting the ISO thinking it could have been a bad burn, but I still get the same error.

it is actually reccomended to just clean install the RTM...anyway you could do that? I would understand if you couldn't

Could be the way you are creating the ISO, try running the setup from the extracted ISO. If that does not work i would try another release.

I tried that, and didn't work. However, I was using magiciso to create my iso's. I tried power iso and now I am not getting the error anymore.

I will burn it now and give it a try.
