I have a computer which curruntly is running linux ubuntu, but I want to install windows 7 instead. During installing I tried to format the disc and create new disc for windows, but I cannot format or delete it. It will only allow me to click on refresh, load driver and new.

Hello yui14, welcome to Seven Forums!

You have to boot the Windows 7 installation media, it won't work running from Linux.

This may be a better process to over-write the Grub bootloader, after you have copied out or made back-ups of the data you need to save to external media and want to do a complete wipe secure erase of the entire Hard Disk Drive / Solid State Drive, have a look at Step One of the Optimize tutorial below then boot the Windows installation media to start the Windows 7 clean install process.

Be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

All Linux code must be deleted using the CLEAN ALL command. As you have had linux on the HD you need do a Clean all & full format.
Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command

SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

    Backup your data first.
