thanks for your reply.
does this mean i can still clean install win7hp (or reinstall) from my existing windows home premium in my laptop (this has many other programs included from the manufacturer)?

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

i didn't (my mistake, i agree), but the point is even OEM manufacturer's recovery disk (sony in this case) would not let me do clean install, recovery disk or recovery partition installs EVERYTHING including the crapware that every PC manufacturer "offers".
once i had windows update issue, i had to go for recovery (losing all installed software), and this time, i have to do the same. the only thing that could save me is an image of the system when it was working good that i could save in an external disk.

You can clean reinstall factory OEM following these steps: Reinstalling Windows 7

Or try this first to see if it's sufficient: Clean up factory bloatware
