    Product key invalid, apparently...

I was left with no other option than the fresh installation of W7 Pro x64.
It is on laptop SONY VAIO VPCEB1E9E.
I have downloaded copy of windows 7 from some of the direct links. No problem, 3GB.
After creating bootable DVD instalation went smoothly. Right now I am updateing W7 and it is going so far so fine. But apparently my product key is not valid.
When you go to the Control Panel/System and then at the bottom it says under the Windows activation 3 days until automatic activation.
Well I have got little bit supprised. I have sticker at the back of the laptop with right key but that key is not valid anymore?
    Any idea... please.

Are you sure you downloaded Windows 7 Pro x64 & not Home Pre?

Right I have SONY recovery DVDs (two). To be honest I thought it would be better to the reinstall from fresh copy, and also I wanted to have just W7 Pro x64.
Copy of windows is definatelly Pro x64. I have checked that as well.
Do you think I should start from the begining but this time with SONY recovery disk?

    Hello bokiboss.

If you're unable to enter a product key without getting an error message, you can leave the box empty and click Next, or you can click Skip. This will allow you to finish setup, but your copy of Windows 7 won't be activated. You must activate Windows within 30 days of installation. For information about activating Windows 7 after setup, see Activate Windows 7 on this computer and Activating Windows 7: frequently asked questions.

The product key won't be valid if you're running a non-genuine copy of Windows. For more information, see What is genuine Windows?

    If Activation Failed
    A) If you got an activation error code, then look it up at the link below to see what it means.B) You may need to try and activate by phone instead.

Have you actually tried to activate it?

If it fails, you can try this method to use the automated activation procedure.

Click Start and type slui.exe 4 in the Search field then press Enter to open the Activation Wizard.

Scroll down the drop-down list to choose your region and click Next.

Call the toll-free number and follow the automated instructions to enter your Installation ID (you'll need a touch-tone telephone for this).

You'll be given confirmation that your Installation ID was accepted and will then be given your Activation ID, which will need to be entered into the Activation ID boxes.

I always write them down first, and then type them into the appropriate box. If all goes to plan your copy of Windows should activate when you click Next.

However, you should remember that Microsoft are not obliged to offer support for OEM software. That responsibility, in your case, rests with Sony.

When it states that your Key is not valid, it should provide you with a telephone number for phone activation / validation, this is not unusual with the keys provided for OEM copies of windows when used with retail disks'

Technically Sony are responsible for the licence on this system but normally if you phone the number given, wait for the option to speak to an agent, and explain fully what has happened, the Microsoft Technician will authorise and activate your copy.

If you have any issues you should contact Sony or your direct supplier

Thanks I think that is the way out.
To be honest I thought it would be possible without calling them but I think it would be the to give them call and explain situation.
I'll post back after the phne call (I hope positive post).

Try typing the key in again. It is easy to type it in incorrectly.

It should activate if the correct version is used and key inputted correctly, or activate by phone.
