Hello Cmoprint, welcome to Seven Forums!

That seems to be an XP error, has XP been on the Hard Disk Drive before or are you trying the OEM disk from XP for the install, or are you booting the Windows 7 installation DVD using the PC BIOS?

Hi Barefoot Kid, this is a first time build all the hardware runs etc i got a utilities disc that came with the board
but was advised by the guy at my local maplin store that i did not need this as windows 7 does everything when you put in the disc but i am now thinking this should have been instaled first but how do i uninstal the OS without being able to open it. Or is it a case of use another computer to download missing file whilst i am unable to activate new build in order to go online for fixes?

    Hello again.

Is the Windows 7 "OEM" disk an actual MS installation DVD or is something the PC 'guy' cooked up on his own?

Hi again Barefoot Kid, and thanks for taking time to help a div like me ( english expression) means lower division in the brain power catagory ha ha, the OS is a Microsoft Genuine. The problem is i am a newby at the game so i may have missed some vital stage of the instalation on screen but after making the first power up
the screen was saying : insert disc so i inserted the OS it went through the processes stage by stage and the fourth stage was updates and i thought hows it going to update without internet access software and i had not even plugged in the ethernet cable just then i was called away to answer the door and when i returned i was just in time to see the system restart and you know the rest.
should i just remove the hard drive and buy a new one and try the OS on a fresh
drive or is it not that simple? or is there any way to uninstal using the bios? because every time i power up i get Windows boot manager with that message
widows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to fix the problem: 1. Insert your instalation disc and restart your computer.
    2. Choose your language settings, and then click next.
    3. Click repair your computer.
i tried reinserting and manualy restarting but the disc is not rebooting and therefore
these options are not useful. below these options it says " if you do not have this disc contact your system administator or computer manufacturer for assistance"
    then below this " File : \windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
status: 0xc0000221 Info: windows failed to load because the kernel is missing, or
    corrupt."

Hi Theog, I have Paragon Hard Disk Manager which includes Paragon disk wiper
and Paragon total defrag but i will have to send for a usb dock to do the disk clean. I bought it on the off chance that it might be handy is this the way you mean when you say clean the HD or is there another way? and thanks for your
    time by the way.

You need to boot the installer to install Win7. Choose Custom install, then use Drive options to Delete all, create New partitions as you wish, Format and install to first partition.

Follow the steps shown here: Clean Install Windows 7

Hi Gregrocker, cant get windows to start, boot manager says ntos kernel is missing or corrupt and cant reload disc
and restart i have tried everything in my limited experience, is wiping the hard drive and begining again an option
and then booting up from the motherboard utilities disk before instaling the OS? Utilities disc is System Utility DVD For Intel Platform and it supports Microsoft OS Windows 7, Vista, and XP supports Intel XTU utility.

I'm not Greg, but he means to boot from the Win7 install DVD. Delete the existing partitions on the hard drive and start over.
