Reinstall Problem
Hi there.
So a few weeks ago my computer crashed and hasn't been able to boot properly ever since, eventually giving me that awful BOOTMGR MISSING error amongst other issues. I tried a lot of things but nothing was working and, since I pretty much had everything saved elsewhere, I decided to cut my losses and do a fresh reinstall from a copy I made.
Unfortunately I'm even having trouble with this. I have no issues deleting the partition and getting to the point where the system is actually trying to install, but every time it gets to the "Expanding Windows Files" task it can't get past zero percent. It sticks there for a few minutes before giving me an error message telling me it can't install. The first time I got this error it said it was missing a required CD/DVD device driver. I see in the troubleshooting sticky that there are suggestions for dealing with this, but I didn't see them until after I tried reinstalling a second time. On this second attempt I got a different error message with the code 0x80070002. It said nothing about the CD/DVD device driver this time, only saying something vague about it not being able to install.
So is this still a driver issue? Should I take the advice from the sticky? Is the hard drive just shot? I'm kind of at a loss at this point.
Thanks,
-James
