    Stuck at "Logging out"

Yeah, so when I shut down my computer sometimes it gets to the loading screen of "Logging out" and then nothing happens.. it just keeps "logging out" I guess.

Sometimes software will time out waiting for another application to close. One workaround is to force quit, the other is to find what software is causing it and see if there is an update/fix.

Does it happens every time .... or sometimes ? If sometimes .. it should be installing the updates .

How can I find which software is the cause?
I do force quit, but is it harmful for the computer to do it?

Sometimes, but I'm 90% sure it's not some windows update as I've turned that off.
Btw it can get stuck there for hours if I don't force turn the comp off.

    Leimone,

Next time you think the system is hung:

CTRL + SHIFT + ESC keycombo
That pops up the Task Manager.
Applications tab. Now you can end the job or you can right-click on it and choose "Go to Process" to get a better idea of what's going on.

    You can also:
    | type RESMON | CPU tab
    See anything in Red?
Once again you can right-click and drill down still further.

Now when you perform updates, some times you will think that your system is hung. That 3 finger salute of ctrl + shift + Esc can be a life-saver. You will probably see that Update is still running. Update can run for an eternity occasionally.

You update your system, 100%. This is not XP. Those updates will save your bacon and save you many woes.

    UPDATING YOUR WIN 7

ASSURE THAT YOU RECEIVE ALL UPDATES

WIN | type WINDOWS UPDATE | ENTER |
    Change settings (left-hand column) |
checkmark all four of the boxes | OK
    button

Approve any dialog boxes presented. Let Windows install any update features.

WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

    INSTALL CRITICAL UPDATES

    Check for Updates (left-hand column)
    Install
    ALL critical updates.
Restart your computer (even if not prompted)

Repeat this procedure until there are no more critical updates.

DO NOT TRUST the “Windows is up to date” in center of dialog. until you see that TWICE IN A ROW!

    INSTALL IMPORTANT UPDATES

Use the “critical update” procedure until all important updates are installed.

    INSTALL OPTIONAL UPDATES

Use the “critical update” procedure until all optional updates are installed.

Under Optional updates you will be presented with a list of about 34 language updates.
You can hide those updates so that aren't continually notified of those updates. When you click on 34 optional updates are available, then you
    a) highlight all of the language updates,
    b) right-click anywhere in the highlighted list.
    c) click on Hide Updates,
    d) OK button.
    UPDATE GOLDEN RULES
    Install ALL, yes, ALL updates.
This is Win 7 and not Vista or XP (eXPired).

    UPDATE IS HUNG –TAKING FOREVER

Hung is very doubtful unless you interrupted updates.

CTRL + SHIFT + ESC key combo will pop-up the Task Manager.
Lo and behold, Windows Update is still running!

You hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys.
While holding them down, tap the ESC key once.

Now with all of that said, and after you have updated you Win7,

if you are still having shutdown problems, Soluto may be able to point you to the offender.

There is a more thorough approach using XPERF for which we have a nice tutorial, but to the uninitialed the entire procedure there can be overwhelming.

Alright, according to Soluto Google Chrome is the cause.
There's no solution for it tho, how can Chrome be the problem?

Un-install Google Chrome for testing, see if it still hangs at shutdown.

If it shutsdown correctly, you can try installing a new version of Chrome and see if it still hangs.

    Check your drivers for updates.

Folks, the update that was available on the 5th of March of 2017; Is the culprit for the windows stuck on logging problem. If you have a bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse like me; That update does not get along with bluetooth.
