    RTM editions and lang packs

    Hi.

I wanted to ask if the language packs available for RTM version are ultimate only or can I install them on other editions of 7.

And second question. Probably the one that should be first - how much of a performance gain can I get by installing lower (less complex) editions of win7. Im thinking about home premium or even home basic.

And last, if someone has the time to answer :P How does the installation of lower editions look? With RTM, should I be able to simply choose during the install or do I have to edit out something from the ISO file (line in previous leaks)?

    Thanks, Halik :>

1-Language packs must be able to be installed on any version
2-little if any gain. you can get much more gain by turning off features you cont use. there is a tutorial here in the tutorial section on tweaking win 7 which really works.
3- "lower" editions look the same. If your vid card support aero you get it in any edition. the difference between editions are things like bitdefender, the ability to do remote desktop (as a server), etc. there is a thread here that compares the features in various editions. For most home users you dont need ultimate.

    Hope this helps

edit: incorrect info. Language packs in ultimate only. thanks LFB.

Just for correcting the first answer:

The only version able to install Language Packs (MUI) is Ultimate:

    Compare Windows 7 Editions
