Windows 7 Boot Manager does not respond to key input

I recently installed Windows 7 RC on a 1.5TB hard-drive first. Then installed Ubuntu. During system startup and on the boot manager screen (where one can select the OS to load) - the screen simply does not respond to any key input. I can't select the OS that I want to boot up. Instead it always boots up the default Windows 7 after the wait time of 8 secs.

Please suggest on how to resolve it.

Initially I was using a wireless keyboard and then changed to a wired keyboard. Still no luck.

Sometimes if the wired keyboard is usb it may not be picking up input so check that its a ps2 cable. also check that your mbr isn't corrupt.

u want to install 7 first then use easybcd and config it with your settings and viola!

Thanks TheWiz. Yes, the wired Keyboard I was using is USB. I'll try with a PS2.

What is mbr and how do I check if it's corrupt?

Well normally it is the boot manager where the master boot record tells the hardrive where the OS is located at. But seeming as how you can boot into 7 by default, I really think we should confirm it isn't the keyboard first.

The Master Boot Record is on the first track of the HD.

It is not inside a partition.

It consists of two parts. A small piece of code called the Initial Program Loader (IPL) and the Partition Table.

When Bios finishes POST, it hands contol to the IPL, which consults the Partition Table to locate the partition marked Active.

Your problem appears to be connected with the Bios not recognising the keyboard correctly.

Did this only happen after installing Ubuntu - and where did you elect for the Ubuntu boot manager to be installed ?
