Disable AHCI mode for your disk controller in BIOS.

Change it from AHCI mode to IDE or ATA mode.
I carefully reviewed the BIOS configuration but could not find anywhere to do what is suggested. Did msahci.sys exist 6 years ago? I got this mobo 6 years ago.

OK Ken may have been on to something here. On what type of media did you burn the 7 x64 iso? DVD +R? DVD -R? Have you checked to see if the DVD drive has the latest firmware update? I have had crappy DVD drives that just wouldn't recognize some formats.

Since the DVD drive recognizes a Vista DVD and other DVD drives recognize the DVD you burned, perhaps it is the DVD drive?

And yes, sorry, since MSI website says your motherboard supports 86-64, it was a dumb question.

I thought the same thing and tried a brand new DVD drive but no luck.
It must have something to do with the DVD controller.

Maybe you should update your DVD driver.

CDBOOT: Cannot boot from CD - Code: 5

What could be wrong? It still boots from Vista setup DVD. The W7 setup DVD worked on another machine.

take a look at this link: UNAWAVE - Code 5 Error whilst booting Windows 7 DVD
It seems to describe your problem. I have not tried it for the Code 5. I tried that solution for another problem I have (I can't install Win7x64) and it didn't work but, again, it is a different problem than what they describe.
Hope it helps

Thanks for your response.
It appears that I have to resort to editing W7 setup DVD which was also suggested at other forum. I will post back when it is done.
