    PC does not boot from W7 setup DVD

    I have been using the machine since W2K. Since then I have not had any problem installing XP and Vista by boot from their setup CD or DVD. Now the machine does not boot from W7 x64 setup DVD. The messages displayed are as follows:

    Searching for Boot Record from CD/DVD-0 . . . OK
    CDBOOT: Cannot boot from CD - Code: 5

    What could be wrong? It still boots from Vista setup DVD. The W7 setup DVD worked on another machine.

    Code 5: Seems your bios cannot handle the 7 bootsector code on the dvd.

    It can boot from Vista dvd, so:

    Boot the Vista dvd to system recovery options command prompt.

    Take Vista dvd out - put 7 dvd in.

    At the cmd prompt, change directory to the dvd drive ( mine is F: ) The command is cd /d F: then press enter.

    Check it is the dvd drive by using dir {enter}.

    If not,try another letter, e.g. D:, like this cd /d D: {enter}

    X:\sources>cd /d F: {enter}

    F:\>dir {enter}

    Volume in drive F is GRMCULXFRER_EN_DVD
    Volume Serial Number is E730-ACCB

    Directory of F:\

    22/05/2009 23:28 122 autorun.inf
    22/05/2009 23:28 <DIR> boot
    22/05/2009 23:28 383,542 bootmgr
    22/05/2009 23:28 667,728 bootmgr.efi
    22/05/2009 23:28 <DIR> efi
    22/05/2009 23:28 106,776 setup.exe
    22/05/2009 23:28 <DIR> sources
    22/05/2009 23:28 <DIR> support
    22/05/2009 23:28 <DIR> upgrade
    4 File(s) 1,170,452 bytes
    5 Dir(s) 0 bytes free

    F:\>setup.exe {enter}

    When you press enter , 7 install will start.

    Thanks to WIW2 and everyone for your responses.
    I am surprised to know that executing setup.exe from command prompt still works for W7 to install.
    Other solution I have found is editing W7 setup ISO but the one in WIW2's post is much simpler.
    Thanks again.

    I have tried the suggestion in WIW2's post but after executing the setup.exe the following message was displayed:

    A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

    Any further suggestion will be appreciated.

    This may seem like a really dumb question for you, I hope not. Does the computer in question have a 64 bit processor?

    I ask because W2k was never x64, and XP x64 was crap, so is this the first 64 bit OS you have tried to install on this computer?

    A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now.
    Your CD/DVD drive is incompatible with Microsoft's AHCI driver (msahci.sys).

    Disable AHCI mode for your disk controller in BIOS.

    Change it from AHCI mode to "IDE" or "ATA" mode.

    Go into Setup when you are booting up and make sure the DVD drive is the first one and disable everything else then the computer has no choice but to boot from the dvd in question. But if all else fails then put in the Dvd when you are logged in to your Current os.
