Acer recovery partition used size is 14MB instead of 14GB

    Hi

I know that acer recovery partition topic was here often but not quite like mine

Recently my disk broke down and i could not boot up in any way possible
I could not see the disk on linux, and not on windows

I had there very important data so i without thinking used windows 7 rc dvd, i have run chkdsk c: /f to see if i can resurect the disk

So it worked it took me 14 hours to do it but i could log in to windows safe mode and copy all my data

Next step before sending my laptop to waranty would be to try recovery programm but it did not work

I tried to do it with alt_F10 but it did not work either, showed me some strange screen with option to choose disk

After that i used macrium reflect to see what is in the hidden partition and it is filled with 100MB of data, there is no image there

So my question is is it possible that windows 7 rc disc erased my data on that hidden partition somehow
Or just disk is compleatly dead?

I need to know since aperantly if service will say that the disc failure is my fault i will need to cover fix cost (which is bull crap, disc was dead and i only recovered my data)

We seem to get alot of Acer with bad Hd Drives.

       Information
We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.
    startup repair disc-create

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

I dont have that disc, and i dont want to order any, i just want to use my warranty to get new disc since clearly this one have many bad sectors and it took me ages to run chkdsk on it

But to do that i need to be sure that i did not affect recovery partition by running chkdsk from windows DVD

When you get your Acer back, be sure to make your Recovery Disks.
As if the HD Drive goes bad out warranty, when you replace the HD Drive yourself, you need them to reinstall.

I know, i was lazy and did not do it but thats not the point, is it possible that windows DVD erased something from that recovery partition?

What is normal size of that partition (used, free)?
