    Upgrading Vista to 7

    Hi,

Im currently running vista ultimate 64bit and looking at upgrading to windows 7. Just wondering if i choose the upgrade path will this hinder the performance of my pc ( I have quite a high end pc)? Has anyone done the upgrade, if so can you share your experiences. i.e. applications crashing, hardware not found, games not running, etc...

I know running a clean install is the best option but i have 25 games installed and dont want to have to reinstall them.

    Thoughts and experiences please....

    Thanks in advance.

Hello badjz and welcome to SevenForums.

I am one of those happy upgraders, though majority of forum members recommend clean install. Read about pros and cons here, about my experience here.

I went the upgrade path from Vista 64 and within 24 hours decided to wipe everything and do a clean install. The upgrade took forever (hours) and I should have known the result could not be anything too pleasant. I was right - everything was buggy after the upgrade.

I know this to be true with most users. I donīt exactly know why but for our two laptops upgrade was better. Everything works like a dream.

But oh holy s*** how long it took! Bit under 5 hours!
